Circularize Tool
The Circularize Tool reshapes selected edge loops, or the outer boundary of selected faces, into an even circle.
The Circularize Tool reshapes selected edge loops, or the outer boundary of selected faces, into an even circle around each loop's center.
It is the quickest way to turn a rough ring into a clean round hole, a pipe end, a bolt head or a porthole before you bevel or extrude it.
How to use
-
Select what you want to make round.
- Edge mode — select one or more closed edge loops.
- Face mode — select faces. The outer boundary of the selection is used.
-
Launch the Circularize Tool. It applies immediately — there are no options.
One Ctrl+Z undoes it.
How the circle is fitted
Each loop is fitted separately, so several loops can be circularized in one go.
- Center — the average position of the loop's vertices.
- Plane — the plane that best fits the loop, so a loop drawn at an angle stays at that angle.
- Radius — the average distance of the vertices from the center.
- Spacing — the vertices are spread at equal angles around the circle.
The whole ring is also rotated by the amount that moves its vertices the least, and the loop keeps its original winding direction. The result stays as close to the original as a perfect circle allows.
Tips
For a round hole in a flat panel, select the faces inside the hole outline in Face mode, circularize, then use Inset or delete the faces.
Circularize works on the vertex count you already have. For a smoother circle, add edges first with Subdivide or Loop Cut.
