Regular Polyhedron

The five Platonic solids, from the tetrahedron to the icosahedron.

Translation in progress — showing the English version.

Regular Polyhedron builds the five Platonic solids — tetrahedron, hexahedron, octahedron, dodecahedron and icosahedron.

Geometry

Radius is the circumscribed sphere radius; every vertex lies on that sphere. The sphere center is placed at y=Radius, so the circumscribed sphere touches the ground plane.

The dodecahedron is built as the dual of the icosahedron. All faces are congruent, so the per-face UV islands share a uniform texel density — ideal for dice-like objects with different art on each face.

Parameters

LabelScript keyDefaultRangeDescription
Radiusr10.01 ~ 1000Circumscribed sphere radius, in meters
Polyhedron TypepolyTetrahedron5종Tetrahedron / Hexahedron / Octahedron / Dodecahedron / Icosahedron

In a script the type is given by name — poly=Dodecahedron. It is case-insensitive.

How to create

  1. Drag in empty space — the drag distance becomes the circumscribed radius.

  2. Click to finish. There is no height stage.

Scene view editing

The ±X and ±Z handles drive Radius. The solid type is switched with Polyhedron Type in the Inspector.

Tips

Ready-made for dice, crystals, gems and low-poly props. Since the UV islands are already split per face, you can paint each face directly.

Script

In a script this shape is written as regpoly.

regpoly "Die" r=0.5 poly=Hexahedron @0,0,0
regpoly "Crystal" r=0.8 poly=Icosahedron @2,0,0
